From August 14 to 16, 2025, the transplant team at Jiangxi Provincal People's Hospital successfully completed 20 organ transplant surgeries within 72 hours, setting another new record in the hospital's history of organ transplantation. The procedures included 3 heart transplants, 5 liver transplants, 10 kidney transplants, and 2 corneal transplants. Notably, 8 transplant surgeries were completed in a single day on August 14.

"The moment I saw the patient safely returned to the ward, I felt all the hard work was worth it," said a nurse who participated in the entire liver transplant procedure, her eyes gleaming with emotion. The joy and sense of accomplishment from the successful surgeries alleviated the exhaustion of working late into the night.

According to Dr. Xu Zhidan, Chief Physician of the hospital's Organ Transplantation Department, the successful execution of this large-scale transplant effort was made possible by the close collaboration of the hospital's multidisciplinary team. By optimizing procedures and integrating resources, Jiangxi Provincal People's Hospital ensured each transplant surgery was performed at the optimal time. Over these three days, dozens of medical staff in the transplant team worked around the clock, racing against time to bring new hope to 20 patients suffering from organ failure.

As of the time of reporting, all patients who underwent transplant surgeries are in stable condition. In recent years, the hospital's organ transplant team has consistently made breakthroughs in high-complexity surgeries, including heart transplants, liver and kidney transplants, and even combined transplants, with annual surgery volumes consistently ranking among the highest in the province. Completing 20 transplants within 72 hours not only demonstrates the hospital's strong emergency response capabilities but also brings hope for life to more patients with end-stage organ failure.
